Every genre of music converged at the Microsoft Theater in L.A. for one shady night of musical praise at the 2016 American Music Awards last night. Host and model Gigi Hadid had no chill button, Drake won big and Selena Gomez made a powerful statement.

Here’s everything you missed:

Drake’s Shady Acceptance Speech

It was no surprise Drake took home multiple AMAs last night. I was actually more shocked he was there to receive it, since he commonly misses award shows. Or, on second thought, he commonly misses the Black award shows.

Drizzy was certainly feeling himself as he walked up to accept his awards, all dressed up in his dad’s old shades and perfect beard. Dammit why is he so fine and corny at the same time?!

But it was one particular line in his speech that left everyone wondering who he was talking about.

“Shoutout to everybody who trying to do the same thing,” he said. “More life is comin’ soon, more truth for your head top so watch how you speak on my name, you know?”

If that wasn’t shady enough, he then left this comment under an AMA photo.

We wonder who he’s talking about…

Gigi Hadid Has No Chill

Who knew Gigi Hadid was funny? Because she was on one last night. We don’t know what was better, her throwing massive shade Meek Mill’s way (with Nicki Minaj in the building) or her Melania Trump impression.

It’s almost scary how good she is at impersonating Melania Trump. Makes me do a side-eye.

Not that she actually knows who Meek Mill is…

Teyana Taylor Has A Little Slip

Totally not the slip you’re thinking. Teyana tripped while walking out to present the “New Artist Of The Year” award. But you wouldn’t have noticed by the way she played it off. Lol.

Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spence and Janelle Monae looked stunning at the awards last night while presenting “Best Pop/Rock Duo or Group” to Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun. The ladies were color coordinated in their finest black and white ensembles.

Selena Gomez Encourages Women To Stop Seeking Validation Online

Whether it’s about her relationship (or former relationship) with Justin Bieber or her public battle with lupus, pop star Selena Gomez’s name is constantly in the headlines. Gomez had taken a break from the spotlight to focus on her “health” and “happiness” before returning to the stage at the AMAs last night. She looked gorgeous in a red gown as she accepted the award for “Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist.”

“I had everything and I was absolutely broken inside,” she said during her emotional speech. “I don’t want to see your bodies on Instagram, I want to see what’s in here. I’m not trying to get validation, nor do I need it anymore.”

Prince Wins Posthumous Award

Prince’s sister Tyka Nelson received a standing ovation while accepting her late brother’s award for “Top Soundtrack” for his iconic album “Purple Rain.” I know what you’re thinking, “Purple Rain” came out in 1984, but since his death, the album shot to the top of the charts making in eligible for the award. And, do we really need a reason to give Prince an award? He’s Prince.

“Prince defied the odds,” she said accepting the award. “A black teen in Minneapolis with a goal to electrify the world, he had the courage to be different. With his vision and God given talent, he is still one of the world’s most respected and loved artists. What he told me was that he wanted to be known as the world’s most prolific songwriter. With 984 titles to his credit and counting he has done just that. In the words of Prince, ‘With love, honor, and respect for every living thing in the universe separation ceases and we all become one being singing one song.’ On behalf of Prince, our wonderful friend, teacher, and brother, I humbly accept this award.”

Since his death, Prince’s family has been in control of his music, leading to a lawsuit with streaming service Tidal.
