Sutherland Springs, TX – Police are now investigating a deadly shooting that happened at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, Sunday morning (November 5, 2017).  Located just 30 miles east of San Antonio, Wilson County Commissioner Albert Gamez Jr., said that “multiple people were killed and numerous people were injured in the Sunday morning shooting at First Baptist Church.”

Five of the victims are still hospitalized and are listed in serious or critical condition.  Three of the five victims are children.

According to report, “a man walked into the church and opened fire with a .223 rifle inside the Texas church around 11:30am local time.  Police say in this small community, 26 people were killed during the morning service. Nearby neighbors also say they heard at least 20 shots fired in the area during the time of the shooting.

The community is said to be a very close with neighbors helping each other out in the time of need, leaving everyone in shock and devastated.

The shooter was later killed after a brief chase just north of the church community in Guadalupe County.  It was unclear if the shooter, now identified as Devin P Kelly, 26, a white male, was killed by police or if he took his own life.

Reports are now showing that Kelley, a former Air Force member, was also court-martialed in 2012 and sentenced to a year in military prison for assaulting his spouse and child.

Police are now looking into a motive behind the shooting.

May we keep the community of Sutherland Springs, Texas in our prayers.
