After days of grays skies and hefty rains in Richmond, VA, the clouds finally parted to reveal a gloriously sunny weekend — and just in time for the East Coast Gospel Music Summer Fest.
Recognized as one of the “biggest gospel weekends on the east coast,” the event featured two days of some of the best in inspirational music.
The weekend kicked off at 5th Baptist Church, 1415 West Cary Street, on Saturday with an exuberant choir showcase. Special guests included Cora Harvey Armstrong, Donte’ McCutchin and Levitical Priests, John Foxx & New Fellowship, Eric Waddell & The Abundant Life Singers (from Baltimore, MD), the GMWA Goochland Mass Choir, EMA Live (from Newport News, VA) and Pastor Larry Miles.
On Sunday, the city flocked to Byrd Park’s Dogwood Dell for “The 9th Annual Gospel Music Fest with The Belle.” This year patrons enjoyed delicious food and live performances by Minister Earl Bynum, G.I., Chiquita Cross, The Virginia Aires, Lee Walker & Spirit, James Johnson, John Foxx & Leviticus, and Pastor Larry Miles & Fresh Anointing Cathedral Praise Ensemble.
