Send A Kid To Camp 2019

Source: Richmond / Radio One Digital

The Richmond community came out in force to help Send A Kid To Camp.

Governor Ralph Northam, Mayor Levar Stoney and Sheriff Antionette Irving were just a few of the public figures that stopped by to make donations to the help send Richmond’s youth to both summer and after-school programs.

The radiothon was held from 8 AM – 8 PM at the Radio One Richmond studios. Listeners were encouraged to call in with donations to send kids to camp at Richmond Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities.

At the close of the night, we raised nearly $28,000 and that number continues to grow!

We’re encouraging the community to continue to donate online through the end of the month. All donations are tax deductible and will help pay for children to have an exciting and educational summer camp experience.

The Send A Kid to Camp radiothon is in loving memory of Ms. Community’s godson, Alexander Lance Booker. Alex loved going to camp, tragically, Alex died while at-play in 2007. His wonderful spirit lives on through his mother Kim Jones-Booker and all that knew him.

Send A Kid To Camp is brought to you by:

Clovia Lawrence, Radio One Richmond, Alexander Lance Booker Foundation, Project Give Back to Community and in partnership with EnRichmond, Richmond Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities.
