R&B star, PJ Morton, has earned a Grammy Award nomination in the category of Best Gospel Album for his “Gospel According to PJ” (Morton Inspiration / Tyscot Records) project. The 13-track set features performances from a who’s who in gospel music including Kirk Franklin, The Clark Sisters, Yolanda Adams, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, and a reunion of Fred Hammond’s groundbreaking group, Commissioned, among others.

The critically acclaimed set has also earned Morton a Soul Train Best Gospel/ Inspirational Award nomination. He also snagged Soul Train nominations in the categories of Best R&B/Soul Male Artist and Soul Train Certified Award.

The digital configuration of the album was released on August 28th. On Black Friday – November 27th, the vinyl and compact disc versions of the album will be released. The latter will include two 12-inch records and an illustrated 8-page lyric booklet, and the former includes a four-panel booklet. Both are available on Amazon.com:

The set’s initial radio single, All in His Plan,” a bluesy gospel ballad, features a dynamic performance by Mary Mary and Le’Andria Johnson. It peaked at No. 1 on  Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart this past summer. The current radio single, “Repay You,” which boasts a mesmerizing vocal by J Moss, is #33 with a bullet on this week’s Mediabase Gospel Airplay chart. The album debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart in September.

The Soul Train Awards take place this Sunday, November 29, 2020 on BET and the 63rd annual Grammy Awards will be announced on Sunday, January 31st on CBS.

TYSCOT RECORDS AFFILIATED ARTISTS EARN THREE GRAMMY® AWARD NOMINATIONS

Tyscot Records’ affiliated artists have earned three Grammy ® Award nominations.

R&B star PJ Morton earns his 14th Grammy ®Award nominations for his first-ever gospel set, “Gospel According to PJ” (Morton Inspiration/Tyscot). The all-star set, which features performances from Kirk Franklin and The Clark Sisters, earned a nod in Best Gospel Album category.

Competing in the same category is Anthony Brown & group therAPy’s album, “2econd Wind: Ready” (Key of A / Tyscot /FairTrade), which features the #1 hit, “Blessings on Blessings.” It’s their second nomination. Their first came in 2015 for their gold-selling single, “Worth.”

Tiff Joy, who is rising on the charts with her new solo single, “You Are God Alone” (Walkway /Tyscot), is nominated for her collaboration with Ricky Dillard on their No. 1 hit, “Release.”
