Chicago, IL – April 19, 2021 —  Pastor Smokie Norful and Victory Cathedral Worship Center partnered with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the Illinois National Guard to host a one-day vaccination site at the church for residents in Bolingbrook and surrounding communities. This is the first time Victory has hosted a vaccination site on its premises

Medically trained professionals who serve in the Illinois National Guard administered the first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to nearly 1,000 registered attendees. In accordance with state guidelines, the vaccination event was open to anyone over the age of 16, including undocumented individuals. Additionally, the vaccine was free to everyone, with or without health insurance

“At Victory, we are passionate about efforts to provide hope, healing, and empowerment to the people we serve here at home and across the world,” said Smokie Norful, Grammy Award-winning gospel artist and senior pastor of Victory Cathedral Worship Center. “That’s why we’re proud to partner with the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois National Guard to host a COVID-19 vaccination event at our Bolingbrook campus. For 15 years, our church has served the community through outreach and generosity, and this is just one of the ways in which we demonstrate that commitment.”

According to Dr. Ngozi Ezike, Director of IDPH, leaders within faith communities throughout the state have been instrumental in motivating their congregants and community members to get vaccinated against this deadly virus.

“It’s a natural and logical fit to partner with our state’s faith leaders to make vaccines available to as many citizens as possible,” said Dr. Ezike. “By organizing sites at various churches, our hope is that members and neighbors will take advantage of the convenience and familiarity of the location and will help spread the word of the need to get vaccinated.”

The event took place on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Victory Cathedral Worship Center – Bolingbrook Campus, 369 N. Weber Road, Bolingbrook, IL  60440
