R&B legend Ron Isley of Cincinnati’s beloved Isley Brothers is happy to have something new to offer the world next month. After serving his time in federal prison for tax evasion charges, the veteran performer is excited about the upcoming release of his new studio album “Mr. I,” which is scheduled for national release just as the stocking stuffer season begins on Tuesday, November 30th.

But that’s not the only thing Ron Isley is excited about this year. He’s reportedly going to be honored with a special Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Soul Train Music Awards which also airs just two days before the new album hits stores.

When asked about the legacy he has as well as the one established by Soul Train, Isley says he’s glad Soul Train could last this long.

“Being black that was the only thing,” said Isley in a moment of reflection. “You couldn’t get on TV because TV wasn’t showing nothing else. So Soul Train was one of the ways to show your people what you were doing.”
