Man, what we would give to have been in New York City this past weekend! That’s right, even though it is now nearly two-thirds of the way through the following Monday, there are still thousands of Prince fans buzzing in purple delight from his sold out concerts – the first of the set to blaze the stage on his newly launched “Welcome 2 America” Tour.

If you’ve been anywhere near a television or the Internet then you know that tickets for the three-day set of shows instantly become one of the most coveted concert tickets to possess this year. Still wishing we could get anywhere close to snagging a seat inside Madison Square Garden, the MOJO 100.3 family decided to put on our heels, slick our hair back and jam to a few of Prince’s oldies but goodies just like we were there, too.

The musical superstar wasn’t the only one who appeared onstage at the Garden. Guess who else showed up to accept Prince’s invitation-only golden opportunity to party like it’s 1999? Supermodel Naomi Campbell blessed us with a fierce catwalk, R&B singer/songwriter and new mommy Alicia Keys sang her face off, and die-hard Prince fan turned comedian/co-host of “The View” Sherri Shepherd got her second public mega-serenade from the multi-talented musician in front of a packed house.

Prince also invited more famous faces including Whoopi Goldberg, Jamie Foxx, Spike Lee and Sheila E. up to perform and dance the night away in a good old-fashioned 80s house party manner. Spanning the singer/songwriter’s decades of hits, the night was filled with music pumping through the air as fans of all ages relived every moment and created new musical memories along the way.

Just so you’re in the loop, too, Prince is reportedly scheduled to hit the NYC crowd again on January 11, 2011. Wonder if we can get some tickets to giveaway for the Cincinnati fans willing to travel to experience the Purple One’s reign just one more time? Keep an eye out and keep your fingers crossed!
