New Haven, CT — Through the years listeners have celebrated the soulful elements and syncopated rhythms found in Soul Tempo’s classic urban inspirational music. Their signature four-voice texture, inventive arrangements and dynamic stage presence have established this group as genuine talent and a mainstay in music and entertainment.  Jerry Brunson, Tony Burnett, and brothers Kevin and Phillip Mitchell were childhood friends who joined vocal forces at their New Haven, Connecticut high school in 1985. Inspired by The Temptations and The Whispers, the four determined teens felt they had something special and dreamed of one day recording a gospel album. Now, with five projects in their catalog, Soul Tempo is charged and set for their summer 2011 CD release Doing Our Father’s Business.

Fans have become accustomed to the musical styling of Soul Tempo but the creativity and energy the group brings to each new project is refreshingly captivating.  Doing Our Father’s Business is the perfect blend of traditional favorites, original urban infused grooves and inimitable harmonies that audiences of all types love to hear. All four members of the group contributed to the writing of the project drawing from their own life encounters of triumphs and trials.

“Never Give Up” is Soul Tempo’s gospel single that has garnered them national radio chart position. The group’s remake of the Andrea Crouch classic “Jesus Is The Answer” and gospel favorite “People Get Ready” are stylishly performed for the new generation of gospel music fans. “I Know He Loves Me” reminiscent of the beloved “Jesus Loves Me” is a smooth urban groove laced with passionate background vocals. Keeping close to their roots, Soul Tempo rounded out the project with the hand clapping hymn “Further Up The Road” and legendary Sam Cook’s timeless favorite “Touch the Hem of His Garment”.

The group garnered the talents of five-time Grammy nominee and extraordinary musician Chris Davis (Brian McKnight, Maysa Leak, Kim Burrell) to produce the project.

Soul Tempo will be touring the country making upcoming stops in Atlanta for the Dove Awards, performing at the KJHL Radio Knott’s Berry Farm Gospel Celebration in Los Angeles, Gospel Music Fest with The Belle on Sunday, July 10 in Richmond, VA and then heading south to the National Baptist Convention in Ft. Lauderdale.  Soul Tempo is working diligently to continue doing their father’s business by remaining a forward-looking, creative, innovative and talented musical act that provides inspiration to audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
