(Fairbanks, AK) — On July 4, 2011, the world had another reason to make room for celebration. “Make Me New” the new release from the Alaskan Project made its debut to the world! Recorded live during the 7th Annual “Together We Stand” project, in Fairbanks, Alaska, it was a night to remember when Mali Music, performed “Make Me New” for the first time in front of a live audience. The song was melodic and penetrated the souls of everyone listening!
“His love for the Lord is so real and transparent”, says visionary Anthony Buie, behind the Alaskan Project. “It was a no-brainer in having his involvement with the project that we know, will minister to the world!” Buie says “Together We Stand is about building relationships within the community and enlightening others about underprivileged groups, the mentally ill, the homeless and the veterans.
Our target audience is all of God’s children, Red, Yellow, Black or White they are all precious in God’s sight and we ‘Get It’.”
As for “Make Me New” this song also gets it!
It is beautifully written, with a melodic tune and powerful lyrics that will minister to your heart, mind and soul.
Here are the opening lyrics to the song.
Father It’s me
Please Hear Me
I Know I am unholy
So Unworthy and Unclean
But I yearn to know you
My soul thirst for you
And my temple is broken down
Take me and Make Me New
And while Mali Music- real name Jamaal Pollard – is still pretty new to the Gospel world on a national platform, he is quickly growing a strong following as he dances to the beat of his own drum. His unique style and swag recently landed him a spot on the BET’s Music Awards. Yet he is also diverse enough to share the stage with Casting Crowns and is slated to appear on the August taping of Bobby Jones Gospel.
His voice is mellow with range and compliments his unshakable faith with his love for the Lord. Sometimes singing with back up singers including his sister, a band that definitely has his back and a mother who shows non-stop support and manages his career and is credited with getting his music out to the masses, Mali is truly on his way.
However for “Together We Stand” this is just the first stop with “Make Me New”. In Fairbank, Alaska, a barbecue release party kicked off at the Pioneer Park Pavilion on Monday. Buie says, ‘“It is our hope to impact the Alaskan Community with this project and the rest of the world as our brothers and sisters finally realize and see that Gospel music is alive and well in Alaska. Buie and fellow Gospel promoter Curtis White have helped the annual Together We Stand Gospel Festival grow in many ways. Most recently the two have partnered with Californian Music, LaBelle & Associates and The Belle Report to increase awareness of Alaskan Gospel music and their upcoming Gospel Fest 2011 slated to take place later this year. Buie says, “We are going higher with the Gospel Fest for 2011 and we have some awesome recording artists and industry heavyweights partnering with Together We Stand, including the return of Mali Music. Also joining us this year, says Buie, “will be Light Records Recording Artist “Jessica Reedy”, Sheilah Belle with The Belle Report, and our 2011 Clinician will be Two Time Dove Award Winner, Music Composer, and Hall of Fame Inductee “V. Michael McKay.” Additionally Together We Stand is partnering with The Summer Arts Festival to host “Alaska Got Talent”, a singing competition to determine the best inspirational soloist, small group, and choir in Alaska. The Gospel Fest will be held this year on November 7th – November 13th. The Grand Finale Concert will be held on Sunday November 13th, so mark your calendar now!
