Doswell, VA – Almost like clock work near the end of September, when heavy rain starts hitting the Richmond, VA area back to back, for days in a row, the State Fair of Virginia usually pops up only days later.  This year was no exception as the State Fair kicked off on Thursday of last week offering everything from fried chicken on a stick, turkey legs, ice cream, kettle popped popcorn, amusement rides to down home country music and seating provided by old fashion benches.

On Sunday, Gospel music took center stage showcasing talent from throughout the area, along with the audiences given the option of renting a chair for $2 each if they wanted seating.  While some seats were rented out, the majority of the audience decided to stand, holding on to every note as they huddled together to stay warm and enjoy the concert.

This year’s special guests included Jess and Joe, Strike the Rock, New Harvest and Rejoice Choirs from Greater Nazarene Baptist Church, Sisterly Grace Dance Ministries, The Masters House Worship Band, Ladies of Purpose Gospel Singers, Brian Rendell and Body of Christ and Cora Harvey Armstrong (in photo Cora Armstrong) and the Harvey Family Singers.

Pulling this years Gospel concert together was Linda Brown with the State Fair of VA and Lillie James.

The evening was co-hosted by James Lawson and The Belle.
