Dynamic Vocalist’s New Live CD “The Journey” Is In Stores Now

Project Features Cameos By Soul Divas Kelly Price, Regina Belle and Beverly Crawford

Veteran soul and gospel vocalist Shirley Murdock will make her debut with the world-renowned National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) in its upcoming production of “Mighty Stream,” a celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. and the American Freedom Movement.  A collaboration between the NSO, Voices of Inspiration and conductor Rev. Nolan Williams Jr. of NEWorks Productions, “Might Stream” will utilize music, video and spoken word to commemorate the legacy of the American Freedom movement.

Aside from Murdock, the program will also feature urban jazz harmonicist Frederic Yonnet and vocalist Byron Nichols of the Grammy Award nominated ensemble, Richard Smallwood & Vision. The evening kicks off Saturday, January 7, 2012 @ 5:00 p.m. at The THEARC Theater, 1901 Mississippi Avenue SE, Washington, DC 20020. Murdock is best known for her `80s era Top 10 R&B hits such as the gold-selling “As We Lay,” “Go On Without You” and “Husband.” Since 1999, Murdock has recorded three top-tier gospel album including her latest CD, “The Journey” (Tyscot Records).”

It was recorded live at The Broadcast Group Complex in Charlotte, NC. R&B divas Kelly Price, Regina Belle and gospel powerhouse Beverly Crawford performed with Murdock on various tracks.  Her current radio single is the Top 25 inspirational ballad, “Dream.” She performed the rousing song at the official Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Dedication ceremony in Washington, D.C. on The Mall where President Obama spoke this past October.
