Detroit, MI – Karew (pronounced: Kuh-rue) Records recording artist Jonathan Nelson (featuring Purpose) recorded his forthcoming LIVE CD at Kingdom Worship Center, 6419 York Road in Baltimore, MD over the weekend.

Nelson, a multiple Stellar Award winner and GMA Dove nominated artist, will release his new single this summer. “I am so thankful to God for this new relationship with Karew Records,” says Nelson. “This collaboration is surely going to bless the world. My first live recording as a Karew artist makes me feel motivated and sincerely excited. I pray that every song, each melody and lyric will touch the heart of every listener.”

“We are greatful to what God did during Jonathans live recording,” said Karen Clark Sheard, co-founder of Karew Records. “Jonathan is our first signee and first venture outside of the family. We are very excited to have the opportunity to market and promote his debut project on Karew Records.”

A hit songwriter, Nelson has penned chart toppers including Donald Lawrence’s “Healed,” for which he won a Stellar Award for Songwriter of the Year in 2006. He had initially recorded the song for himself on his independent debut project, Live In Baltimore: Everything You Are. One of Nelson’s biggest songs to date is Youth For Christ’s congregational ballad, “The Struggle Is Over,” which spent 12 weeks at #1 on Billboard’s magazine Hot Gospel Songs chart and was the sleeper hit of the summer of 2006. Other hit songs written by Nelson include Bishop T.D. Jakes’ “My Praise Is My Weapon” and “Right Place,” a song he wrote with Troy Sneed for Pastor Rudolph McKissick which became a top Billboard gospel hit.

One of Nelson’s biggest recorded songs is his signature hit “My Name Is Victory,” which spent 65 weeks on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart. Nelson is the minister of music at the Faith Center in Sunrise, FL, (Bishop Henry Fernandez, Senior Pastor).
