Tonight, breakthrough Christian Hip Hop artist Lecrae took home the Grammy Award for Best Gospel Album. The honor accredits his chart-topping sixth studio album Gravity. Released on September 4, 2012, the critically acclaimed Gravity debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 charts setting a new record for Lecrae with  72,000 units sold creating the biggest first-week sale ever for a Christian Hip Hop album.

Although Lecrae was tied up on the red carpet and couldn’t give his acceptance speech himself, members of his label team spoke on his behalf making sure to honor God for blessing Lecrae for this awesome experience and musical journey. Lecrae has also only had one prior Grammy nomination in his career.
