Former supermodel Tyra Banks has been very open about her struggles with conceiving children. Wednesday, Banks took to Instagram to share that she and boyfriend Erik Asla have had a child through surrogacy. “We are so excited for our new baby boy bundle of joy. The journey to now has not been an easy process, as I’ve shared before. But there was a beautiful bright light at the end of the tunnel for me and his father, Erik,” said Banks in a statement. “As I gaze into the beautiful eyes of my son, I think about all the people who struggle with fertility or carrying a child and continue to pray for them every day. My hopes and dreams are filled with well wishes that they get to feel what my little treasure, York Banks Asla, feels like in my arms.” Read more.
Remembering the Legacy of African-American Astronaut Ronald McNair
Thursday marks 30 years since African-American astronaut Ronald McNair died in the Challenger tragedy. McNair left a legacy that is an integral part of Black history by becoming the second African-American to reach outer space. “He was willing to take risks, willing to step way outside his comfort zone,” said one of his friends. “He knew you had to take risks to expand the human experience. That’s what his whole life was.” Although McNair hailed from South Carolina, Harlem was his second home. “We always had a presence there,” said his older brother Carl S. McNair. “Our father was there — lots of family and friends we’d only see when we were there. New York was the base.” An East Harlem playground was created in McNair’s memory, built to look like a space shuttle. After finishing his PhD, McNair pursed a career in research and joined NASA in 1978. He was 36 when he died. Read more.

I was just playing literally a point at a time.” Williams’ next competitor will be German player Angelique Kerber. Kerber is currently the 7th seed. “Yeah, I’m looking forward to playing Serena in the final,” said Kerber. “It’s amazing to play against the No. 1. I must play my best tennis to have a chance.
