TBR — Richmond, VA – The 14th Annual Richmond Tri-City Gospel Step Show once again pulled together kids from up and down the East Coast to show off their fancy dance moves, coordinated and well choreographed competitive stepping and a few other surprises that entertained close to 600 guests and nine judges who would ultimately determine a winner.

Like years before, this year made way for two categories for Churches and Schools with a total of twelve participating teams with six in each category.

From Richmond, Virginia to Boston, Massachusetts, each team delivered great performances that kept the judges on their toes, including Minister Earl Bynum, Eric Cunningham, Laymetha Guy Reed, Peggy Smith, Greg Stallings, Kimberly Nunnally, Royal Gurley, Andrea Burke and The Belle. 

This years event was not held at the Byrd Theater like years before, but moved across town to the newly built Trinity Life Center on Dill Road.

Teams this years competed for $2000 in cash prizes which was handed out at the end of the show, along with trophy’s and certificates for all participates. This years teams in the Churches Category included, Olive Branch Baptist Church, Bridging the Gap Urban Ministries “Alpha Delta Omega Step Team”, Bridging the Gap Urban Ministries “Disciples for Christ”, Olive Branch Baptist Church “Jr. Gents”, Abundant Life Center “Bloodline” and “Redeemed Assembly of Jesus Christ Steppers,” “The Distinguished Gents.

In the School Category the list included “NVUs Production  “Lady Iconz”, Kipp Academy A New Scene”, Armstrong High School Blue Ice”, George Wythe High School “Divas in Action (DIA)” and Thomas Jefferson High School “Ladies of Essence”.

In the end and winning the Church Category were the Olive Branch Baptist Church “Jr. Gents” with the Olive Branch Baptist Church “The Distinguished Gents” coming in second.

Winning in the School category was Kipp Academy “A-New-Sence” all the way from Boston, Mass who delivered an amazing human jump rope performance that took their performance over the top.  Coming in second were the NVY’s Production Lady Iconz and George Wythe High School “D-Vine Divaz” coming in third.

Also giving a special guest performance were Gospel Recording artists J. T. Logan, Ms. Pamela Johnson, Nyasia and Eric Carrington.

Founder and organizer of the event, Ed Stephens said, “I am extremely pleased that everyone had a blessed time and that the kids had a chance to showcase their many talents.  We look forward in doing it again next year.”
