Terry McAuliffe, a businessman will host a fundraiser for President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign and the headliners are the president himself and former president Bill Clinton. According to published reports the fundraising event will take place at McAullife’s home in McLean, Virginia on April 29.
Virginia is a crucial state for the democrats to keep a stronghold in the US Senate. The senatorial primary is June 12 in Virginia. It’s a tight race with former governor DNC Chair Tim Kaine with 47% of support to former US Senator and governor George Allen with 44% support.
In 2008, Barack Obama was the first democratic nominee to win Virginia in 44 years. Democratics have lost ground in both the Virginia House and Senate which constitutes most of Virginia’s congressional delegation.
Terence “Terry” McAuliffe is a successful businessman, political donor and politician. He grew up in Syracuse, New York where he started his first business at the age of 14, McAuliffe Driveway Maintenance. He sealed local driveways and parking lots. McAuliffe resides in Mclean, Virginia with his wife and family.
McAuliffe served as the 49th chairman of the Democratic National Committee 2001-2005. He was co-chairman on Bill Clinton’s 1996 re-election campaign and he also served as chairman of Hillary Clinton’s 2008 democratic presidential campaign. He ran unsuccessfuly for governor in Virginia in 2009.
McAuliffe is the founder and chairman of Green Tech Automotive, specialize in affordable and next generation energy efficient vehicles. There are 5 vehicles in the production line, 2 electric and 3 hybrids. The production plant is under construction in Northern Mississippi.
During our interview McAuliffe said the GOP “Super Tuesday” was a joke in Virginia. He said that “President Barack Obama deserves a second term. He is turning the economy around by creating 3.6 million jobs in 26 months”. McAuliffe said that in order for Obama to win a second term “people must get registered to vote” and support the re-election campaign financially. He said “the other side, is raising lots of “super pac” money. Listen the interview here.
